Big battery and textured vegan leather on a budget

Motorola sells the Moto G 5G for 199 dollars. Instead of smooth, greasy plastic, the rear panel uses a soft vegan leather texture that resists fingerprints and does not slide off a desk. It weighs 194 grams and features a water-repellent coating to handle rain showers.

Up front, Motorola fitted a 6.6-inch LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 720x1612 resolution. The resolution is lower than Full HD, but the high refresh rate keeps scrolling smooth across web pages and social feeds.

Everyday performance and endurance

Power comes from a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chip paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. It covers messaging, video streaming, navigation, and everyday banking apps without trouble. Switching between four or five heavy apps will cause occasional reload pauses.

Battery life is the standout spec. The 5,000mAh battery routinely lasts two full days between charges under normal usage. Charging runs at 18W wired, so topping up from zero takes just under two hours.

  • A side-mounted capacitive fingerprint scanner rests inside the power key for quick unlocking.
  • Motorola keeps the 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom edge alongside the USB-C port.
  • Storage can be expanded up to 1TB using a microSD card slot.
  • The camera system uses a 50MP main sensor paired with a 2MP macro lens.
  • Stereo speakers feature Dolby Atmos tuning for improved volume output on speakerphone calls.

The 50MP main shooter produces good photos under midday sun, capturing warm colors and balanced skin tones. Low-light photos show grain, and Motorola only commits to one major Android OS update. But if your priority is two full days of battery and a sub-200 dollar price tag, the Moto G handles the basics well.
