ROG Phone 8 Pro: 165Hz and 24GB

The highest refresh rate on this list, on a 6.78 inch LTPO AMOLED that can drop its rate down when nothing is moving.

225 grams. Gaming phones are heavy because the cooling has to go somewhere.

iQOO Neo9 Pro: 144Hz, 190 grams

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a 144Hz LTPO AMOLED, and it weighs 190 grams, which is 35 grams less than the ROG.

Over a two hour session your wrists notice that difference more than the 21Hz you gave up.

Poco X6 Pro: the sensible one

A Dimensity 8300 Ultra rather than a Qualcomm flagship, a 120Hz AMOLED, and 186 grams.

It also has 1920Hz PWM dimming, which matters if low brightness screens give you headaches. That is a spec almost nobody advertises.

OnePlus Ace 3: 120Hz and 5,500mAh

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, 6.78 inch LTPO AMOLED at 120Hz, 5,500mAh, 207 grams.

Gaming drains a battery faster than anything else you do on a phone, so capacity belongs on this list as much as refresh rate does.

Be honest about the refresh rate

Very few mobile games render above 120fps. A 165Hz panel mostly makes scrolling smoother, not games faster.

Sustained performance and cooling decide whether frame rates hold up after twenty minutes. That is the number worth chasing.
