Samsung plans to release the Galaxy S27 Ultra in January or February 2027, and the headline change sits under the glass. The phone will run on 2-nanometer silicon, split between Samsung Foundry's Exynos 2700 in select regions and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 elsewhere. That shift shrinks the transistor pitch enough to yield double-digit thermal improvements, which Samsung badly needs after pushing its vapor chambers to the physical limit in previous generations.

Hardware and camera adjustments

Do not expect a 300-megapixel sensor. Samsung is sticking with an updated revision of its 200MP main camera, but with a wider f/1.6 aperture and a larger physical sensor footprint to pull in cleaner night shots. The periscope telephoto keeps its 5x optical reach while swapping out the secondary 3x sensor for a variable optical lens that covers 3x to 7x continuous zoom without digital cropping.

Battery capacity moves to 5,500mAh. Samsung is adopting silicon-carbon anode tech across the S27 range, packing roughly 10 percent more energy into the same physical pouch size as the older 5,000mAh packs. Wired charging speeds remain locked at 45W. Samsung refuses to chase Chinese brands into 100W territory over long-term battery degradation concerns.

  • Base storage starts at 256GB paired with 12GB of LPDDR6 memory.
  • Titanium frame returns with rounded back corners to make one-handed grip less punishing.

Pricing will be steep. Expect the base Galaxy S27 Ultra to start at $1,299 in the US and 1,249 pounds in the UK. If component costs for 2nm wafers climb higher during late 2026 production runs, Samsung may nudge those numbers up another $50 at launch.
