Xiaomi confirmed the launch date for the standard Xiaomi 16 in Beijing today, setting the reveal for 28 October. The base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage starts at 4,299 yuan, roughly matching European pricing around 999 euros when it reaches international markets early next year.

Small body with dense battery tech

The company kept the footprint small. You get a 6.36-inch flat OLED display running at 120Hz with a sharp 1.5K resolution. Despite the compact frame, engineers crammed a 6,100mAh silicon-carbon battery inside, a massive leap over the typical 5,000mAh packs found in phones this size.

Key internal specifications include:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor with an updated custom CPU layout.
  • 90W wired fast charging that fills the pack from empty to full in 38 minutes.
  • 50W wireless charging support on proprietary pads.
  • IP68 water and dust resistance rating with a reinforced aluminum frame.

Leica optics on all three lenses

Leica co-branding returns across the three rear cameras. The main 50MP sensor measures 1/1.3 inches with an f/1.6 aperture. A 50MP telephoto camera offers 3.2x optical zoom and macro focusing as close as 10cm, while a third 50MP ultra-wide captures a 115-degree field of view.

Xiaomi built a small phone that does not compromise on endurance. For people tired of carrying massive screens just to get all-day battery life, this is the phone to watch this autumn.
